The travel is a bit crazy these days. In May and Jun, I have workshops in Dubai, Mumbai, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, Shanghai and Singapore. I looked forward to going home very much at the end of every trip! The fortunate thing is that I am doing things I love!
There are a few things I learn from the Mumbai trip. First, it is an ‘Aha’ I got from my co-facilitator. He knew a facilitator who can often handle (potentially) difficult situation well. She can relate to the learners very well. She can quickly call the learners by first name on Day 1. The facilitator also aims to get all to speak up at least once on Day 1. And she often managed to do it.
I did memorize names consciously, and I always know the importance of building rapport with learners. But recently my attention was taken away to course content as I have been taking up new workshops. I need to go back to basic. Specifically, I shall set a target to myself – to address all learners by first names and make all to speak up by the end of Day 1!
